MEET THE FOUNDER

Krutika Shah, the director and choreographer of “Taal” group is an architect by profession and a fanatic art lover and a dance devotee. She has a vision of taking Indian Folk Dance to places and give it the recognition that it truly deserves. Krutika started learning Bharatanatyam from the age of 4 years. Her Gurus being Smt. Neelaben and Reenaben Raval of ‘Felicity Art”, Surat, India.

In 1995, Krutika completed her B.A. in dance(Visharad) from Bruhad Gujarat Sangeet Samiti, Ahmedabad. In 1999, she accomplished another degree, M.A. in dance(Alankar) from Brunhad Gujarat Sangit Samiti, Ahmedabad, followed by performing her “Arangetram” in the succeeding year.

In the year 2001, she performed Bharatanatyam on the huge stage of “Kal ke Kalakar” Shastriya Natya Smaroh in Porbandar.

Krutika is currently working as an eminent Architect at Ark Designs and is a reputable faculty at SCET, Surat.

OUR STORY

Established in 2005, by Krutika Shah, “Taal” group began as the journey to spread and cherish the value of the folk culture and traditions.

A group of women with the passion to dance and showcase the rich Indian folk culture came together to lay the foundations of the” Taal” group.

The passion of the women of Taal knows no age bar, women from the age of 8-65 have been associated with the group since its foundation.

The group has performed at various National and International platform showcasing their love for folk culture.

Taal group which started as an extension of passion and an ardent initiative to take ahead the folk culture has today overcome all the barriers and proven that passion knows no boundaries.

Mission

Taal group was created with a vision to spread indian cultural folk dance internationally and to bring together women from different walks of life, who would not only convey positive images of natural beauty in all shades but also embody and fully represent the essence of sisterhood and self-confidence at its best.

The ladies of the group aim to prove that age is no bar for learning, dancing and taking up challenges each day.

Memories

The group has performed at World Cultural Festival hosted by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the Hon. Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi as a Chief Guest, in Delhi. They have presented themselves at Kala Ghoda Art Festival, Mumbai in February 2018.

The girls of the ‘Taal’ group performed internationally at Georgia in 2018 and with Spandan at the Mezinarodni Folklore Festival, Prague 2017, Bulgeria 2018. They have presented themselves at various state events in Gujarat like SMC food festival, Gopi Talav(SMC), Kala Varso, Navratri events at Surat Tennis Club (2007-2014) and SIECC since 2015.

Taal group’s passion and never ending love for their culture has led them to add another feather in their cap as they are an official member of C.I.O.F.F and E.A.F.F.
